Danny L McGuire, Jr. is a second-generation law-enforcement professional with over 20 years of experience. He began his career as an explorer with the Palos Heights Police Department at the age of 18 and later became a community service officer with that department. In 1992, at the age of 21, Danny earned his first full-time sworn position with the Cook County Sheriff's Department in a federally funded narcotics task force. During that time he was assigned to the NEMEG unit where he conducted covert narcotics investigations. He later took a position with the Chicago Police Department were his assignments included patrol, special operations, HBT (Hostage, Barricade, Terrorist Team). He was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the patrol division for short time only to return to Special Functions to assume the position the Weapons of Mass Destruction Safety and Support Team (WMD SST) Team Leader and later the chief hostage/crisis negotiator for the SWAT Team.

Danny earned his Bachelor of Science in Law-Enforcement Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Doctorate of Education emphasis Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, Master of Public Administration from Clemson University and in Spring of 2021 a Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition with emphasis on Community Nutrition from the University of Georgia. Danny is an authentic and service oriented individual who has also served on several boards of directors, committees, and executive boards from sports organizations to educational institutions and not for profits. He served on the board of the Autism Society of Illinois as Danny has an adult son impacted by autism spectrum disorder and has advocated for fathers of children and adults with autism as well as other special needs.

During the past several years Danny has worked as an Assistant Professor/Adjunct Professor at local colleges and universities and is currently the Department Chair for Public Safety, Criminal Justice, and Cybersecurity programs at Calumet College of St. Joseph as well as the Director of the Public Safety Institute. Danny is a certified wellness coach and is passionate about helping public safety professionals.
