Surviving Trauma in therapy for Clinicians: Words often fail to capture a traumatic experience; therefore, clients will have difficulties verbalizing their trauma in the therapeutic relationship. Utilizing and understanding trauma specific therapies will help your client discover their “words” and start the healing process. Addressing the impact of pre-event, event, and post-event factors that influence the potential recovery of the individual will also be examined for better conceptualization and treatment planning. Helping clients navigate through the biological and psychological causes behind trauma will help you educate them though their trauma recovery. Each participant will leave learning several survival strategies that can be easily applied in their practice. This is a must for any professional who work with trauma and critical incidents.

OBJECTIVES:

2. Identify individual and sociocultural features that serve as risk or protective factors.
