INTRODUCTION

Dr. Franklin is deeply committed to ensuring that both service members and first responders have access to high-quality mental health care, regardless of their location. He currently serves as a Captain in the United States Army Reserves, working as a clinical psychologist. In this role, his main focus is on promoting the well-being of soldiers and their families. His responsibilities include providing psychoeducation on mental health issues relevant to soldiers, offering treatment for developing psychological symptoms, implementing programs aimed at enhancing overall soldier well-being, and advising command on soldier fitness for continued service.

 

In his civilian capacity, Dr. Franklin primarily conducts evaluations for veterans seeking compensation and pension benefits for mental health conditions that originated or were aggravated during their military service. Before his work with veterans, Dr. Franklin was at San Quentin State Prison in California, where he provided treatment to inmates and conducted forensic assessments to determine the appropriate level of court supervision upon their release. Additionally, Dr. Franklin spent several years in outpatient private practice, offering psychodiagnostic services and clinical psychological assessments to individuals seeking to understand personality issues causing them distress.

 

Dr. Franklin views his work at the First Responder Wellness Center as a continuation of his dedication to providing service members and first responders with the best possible mental health care. He conducts wellness visits for first responders and specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a highly effective treatment for resolving traumatic experiences. Dr. Franklin also performs pre-employment, FOID, and Fitness For Duty examinations for first responders.
