We Are Witnesses: Chicago

The Marshall Project and WBEZ present the launch of We Are Witnesses: Chicago. Giving voice to crime victims and perpetrators; police offices and the families of people in jail; prison guards and judges and residents of violent neighborhoods, these videos specifically involve diverse Chicago communities in a real conversation about criminal justice. A selection of films from the new series will be shown, followed by a panel discussion with the Witnesses introduced by Shannon Heffernan from WBEZ and moderated by Carroll Bogert, President of The Marshall Project.
The panelists include:
Cleopatra and Nathaniel Pendleton- Parents of Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed by gun violence.
Carrie Steiner - Former Chicago police officer and clinical psychologist
Xavier McElrath-Bey - Formerly incarcerated as a juvenile
Dr. Nneka Jones - Former warden of Cook County Jail
