Meet Our New Clinicians

At First Responders Wellness Center, we are dedicated to providing you with care that is rooted in lived experience and professional excellence. We are proud to introduce two new clinicians who share our commitment to your health and resilience.

Tim Cook, LCPC

Your Partner in Proactive Wellness

We are thrilled to welcome Tim Cook to our team as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Tim understands the unique culture and demands of your profession because he lived it for over three decades. As a retired Patrol Officer, Detective, and Sergeant, he brings a level of insider knowledge that ensures you never have to explain the basics of your job before getting to the work of healing.

Our Focus with You: We work with Tim to provide you with specialized services that prioritize your long-term career longevity. His focus includes:

  • Annual Wellness Visits: Proactive check-ins designed to support your mental health before challenges become crises.

  • Group Debriefings: Expertly facilitated sessions to help your team process critical incidents together.

  • Crisis Intervention: Immediate, practical support when you or your agency face acute psychological challenges.

His Background: Beyond his 30 years in law enforcement, Tim has dedicated himself to community safety and organizational resilience. He has been instrumental in developing security procedures for school districts and has extensive experience in community mental health and threat assessment supervision. We value his ability to blend operational leadership with compassionate clinical care.

Audrey Scherer, LPC

Breaking Barriers to Your Healing

We are pleased to introduce Audrey Scherer, our newest Licensed Professional Counselor. Audrey is deeply passionate about addressing the systemic barriers that may have prevented you from seeking the high-quality mental health care you deserve. She provides a supportive, trauma-informed environment where you can safely explore your experiences and build new strengths.

Our Focus with You: We partner with Audrey to offer specialized care for veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. She is here to help you navigate:

  • Complex Trauma & PTSD: Utilizing evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help you find a path forward.

  • Mood & Substance Use: Supporting you through the challenges of depression, anxiety, and the stressors that often lead to substance use.

  • Skill Building: Helping you develop the resilience and coping mechanisms necessary to thrive both on duty and at home.

Her Background: Audrey earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her clinical foundation was built through intensive internships at the Road Home Program at Rush University Medical Center and North Range Behavioral Health, where she specialized in treating veterans and first responders facing complex psychological presentations. We are proud to have her expertise in trauma-informed care as part of our mission to serve you.
